Digital Textile Printing within the Luxury Fashion Industry
This presentation examines the relationship between digital printing and the luxury fashion sector. The fashion industry is increasingly using digital print across all market areas - from the High Street to high-end fashion houses. 
Drawing on her experiences working in both London and Paris as a textile designer for brands including Alexander McQueen, Cacharel, John Galliano and Julien Macdonald, Jessica considers how advantageous digital printing can be as a process within the luxury sector and discusses the ways in which fashion textile designers are using new technology within digital printing to drive new ideas and creativity within design. 
Textile design graduates entering the industry are now very familiar with Adobe Photoshop, preparing print files, and understanding the processes of digital printing. How does digital printing benefit emerging brands and new designers? How does digital printing compare with traditional methods? Is there an ecological advantage? What are the disadvantages? As a new technology, there are of course many ways in which digital printing can be improved in the future. The fashion design industry is well known for its desire to push boundaries; this presentation will discuss some ways in which digital printing could potentially be developed in the future to allow for more creative results and possibilities.
